九問：身子今昔同異疑。華嚴會上有舍利弗，此與《法華》身子何異？云何。且《華嚴》身子從外道家來，聞阿鞞說偈證初果，次到佛所證四果，則非《法華》身子。若異者，豈釋迦一化有二身子耶？

Question 9: Doubt concerning the identity and difference of Śāriputra in the present and past. In the Avataṃsaka assembly there is a Śāriputra; how does he differ from Śāriputra in the *Lotus Sūtra*? How is this? Furthermore, Śāriputra in the *Avataṃsaka* came from a non-Buddhist family, heard Aśvajit speak a verse and realized the first fruit, and next went to the Buddha's place to realize the fourth fruit—then he would not be the Śāriputra of the *Lotus Sūtra*. If they are different, could there be two Śāriputras within the single teaching period of Śākyamuni?
