7.243

一師於寶雲講經次，一旦忽有施氏胎驢，趍伏座下，講罷而去。自爾而至者凡四十日，產而乃已。驢果有人之意而能聽法，不亦異乎哉。

First: Once while the master was lecturing on scriptures at Baoyun, suddenly a pregnant donkey belonging to the Shi clan ran in and prostrated beneath the lecture seat, departing only after the lecture ended. From then on it came for forty days, stopping only when it gave birth. That a donkey truly had the intent of a human and was able to listen to the Dharma—is this not extraordinary?
