經云：「發是願已，至心稱念我之名字，亦應專念我本師阿彌陀如來，然後即當誦此陀羅尼（行者想身對此佛菩薩前稱念尊名，唯在哀切，如遭焚溺求於救濟，若時促略稱七遍，若時稍寬多稱無妨），南無觀世音菩薩，　南無阿彌陀佛。」（稱念訖云：）

The sūtra says: "Having made these vows, with utmost sincerity recite my name, and you should also single-mindedly recite [the name of] my root teacher, Amitābha Tathāgata; after that, you should then recite this dhāraṇī." (The practitioner visualizes their body standing before these Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, reciting the venerable names, with the sole focus on mournful sincerity, like one caught in fire or drowning seeking rescue. If time is short, recite them briefly seven times; if time is somewhat more plentiful, reciting many times is no impediment.) "Homage to Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. Homage to Amitābha Buddha." (Having finished reciting, say:)
