1.25

又如下品中生人，一生具造佛法中罪，破齋破戒、食用佛法僧物，不生慚愧。其人得病欲死，地獄眾火一時俱至。遇善知識，為說彌陀佛身相功德、國土莊嚴。罪人聞已，即除八十億劫生死之罪，地獄即滅。亦是現生滅罪增上緣。

Furthermore, it is like a person of the middle tier of the lowest grade: throughout their life they fully committed sins within the Buddhadharma, breaking fasts and violating precepts, using and consuming the property of the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha without feeling shame or remorse. When that person fell ill and was about to die, the fires of hell all arrived at once. They met a good spiritual friend who explained to them the merits of Amitābha Buddha's bodily marks and the adornments of his land. Having heard this, the sinner immediately eradicated the sins of birth and death spanning eighty koṭis of kalpas, and hell was instantly extinguished. This too is the predominant condition of extinguishing sins in the present life.
