1.37

又如《般舟三昧經．行品》中說云，佛告跋陀和：「若有人，七日七夜在道場內，捨諸緣事除去睡臥，一心專念阿彌陀佛真金色身，或一日三日七日，或二七日五六七七日，或至百日，或盡一生，至心觀佛及口稱心念者，佛即攝受。既蒙攝受，定知罪滅，得生淨土。」佛言：「若人專行此念彌陀佛三昧者，常得一切諸天及四天大王、龍神八部隨逐影護愛樂相見，永無諸惡鬼神災障厄難橫加惱亂。」具如〈護持品〉中說。此亦是現生護念增上緣。

Furthermore, as stated in the "Practice Chapter" of the Pratyutpanna-samādhi-sūtra, the Buddha told Bhadrapāla: "If there is a person who, for seven days and seven nights in the bodhimaṇḍa, renouncing all conditional affairs and abandoning sleep and lying down, single-mindedly and focusedly recollected Amitābha Buddha's true golden-colored body, or for one day, three days, seven days, or two times seven days, five, six, or seven times seven days, or up to a hundred days, or to the end of their life, with utmost sincerity contemplates the Buddha and recites with mouth and recollected with mind, the Buddha will immediately gather and receive them. Having been gathered and received, they will definitely know that their sins are extinguished and that they will attain birth in the Pure Land." The Buddha said: "If a person focusedly practices this samādhi of recollecting Amitābha Buddha, they will constantly have all the gods, the four great heavenly kings, and the eight classes of dragons and spirits follow and protect them like shadows, delighting in seeing them, and never will any evil ghosts, spirits, calamities, or obstacles untowardly trouble or disturb them." It is fully as explained in the "Chapter on Protection and Maintenance". This too is the predominant condition of protection and mindful maintenance in the present life.
