Wholehearted entreaty: The Buddhas, the supreme honoured ones of great compassion, constantly illuminate the three realms of existence with the wisdom of emptiness. Sentient beings, blind and benighted, do not awaken or perceive, perpetually sinking into the great ocean of the suffering of birth and death. To pull the multitudes of beings out of manifold sufferings, I entreat them to abide constantly and turn the wheel of Dharma. Having made entreaty, with wholehearted devotion I take refuge in and bow to Amitābha Buddha.
