雲巖問一尼：「汝爺在？」云：「在。」巖曰：「年多少？」云：「年八十。」巖曰：「汝有箇爺，不年八十，還知否？」云：「莫是恁麼來者？」巖曰：「猶是兒孫在。」師曰：「直是不恁麼來者，亦是兒孫。」

Yunyan asked a nun: 'Is your father alive?' She said: 'He is alive.' Yunyan said: 'How old is he?' She said: 'Eighty years old.' Yunyan said: 'You have a father who is not eighty years old; do you know him?' She said: 'Could it be the one who comes like this?' Yunyan said: 'That is still the child and grandchild.' The Master said: 'Even the one who does not come like this is still the child and grandchild.'
