師曰：「今時學者欲得學，直須體取佛向上人始得。如今學者只知有十方諸佛，且不知有十方諸佛出身處。空知有佛，不得成佛。」

The Master said, 'If students of these days wish to learn, they must directly experience the person beyond Buddha before they can succeed. Students nowadays only know of the Buddhas of the ten directions, but do not know the place where the Buddhas of the ten directions emerge. Vainly knowing of Buddha, they cannot become Buddhas.'
