慎微長老手把拄杖，一僧指云：「這個拄杖出何處？」微云：「雪地出。」師不肯，自代曰：「如今出也，有人辨得麼？」

Elder Shenwei held a staff in his hand. A monk pointed to it and said, 'Where does this staff come from?' Wei said, 'It comes from a snowy place.' The Master did not approve and spoke on his own behalf: 'Now it has come forth; can anyone discern it?'
