1.98

僧舉：「僧問章敬：『心法雙亡，指歸何所？』敬曰：『郢人無污，徒勞運斤。』云：『請師不返之言。』敬曰：『即無返句。』」之語問師。師曰：「道即甚道，罕遇作家。」

A monk cited the words to ask the Master: "A monk asked Zhangjing, 'When mind and phenomena are both extinguished, what does the pointer return to?' Jing said, 'The man of Ying had no blemish; in vain did [the plasterer] wield the axe.' The monk said, 'Please, Master, speak words of non-returning.' Jing said, 'That is the phrase of non-returning.'" The Master said, "As for speaking, he spoke very well, but he rarely encountered an adept."
