神山把針次，師問云：「作甚麼？」神山云：「把針。」師云：「把針事作麼生？」神山云：「針針相似。」師云：「二十年同行，作這箇語話，豈有與麼工夫？」神山云：「長老又作麼生？」師云：「如大地火發底道理。」

While Shenshan was holding a needle, the Master asked, "What are you doing?" Shenshan said, "Holding a needle." The Master said, "What is the matter of holding a needle like?" Shenshan said, "Stitch by stitch, they are alike." The Master said, "Having walked together for twenty years, you make such talk! How could there be such effort?" Shenshan said, "What about you, Elder?" The Master said, "The principle of fire erupting across the great earth."
