雪峯辭師。師云：「子甚處去？」雪峯云：「歸嶺中去。」師云：「當時從甚麼路出？」雪峯云：「從飛猿嶺出。」師云：「今回向甚麼路去？」雪峯云：「從飛猿嶺去。」師云：「有一人不從飛猿嶺去，子還識麼？」雪峯云：「不識。」師云：「為甚麼不識？」雪峯云：「他無面目。」師云：「子既不識，爭知無面目？」雪峯無對。（瑯琊覺云：「心麁者失。」）

Xuefeng took his leave of the Master. The Master said, "Where are you going?" Xuefeng said, "Returning to the mountains of Lingnan." The Master said, "Back then, by which path did you come out?" Xuefeng said, "Out via Flying Ape Ridge." The Master said, "Now by which path are you going back?" Xuefeng said, "Going via Flying Ape Ridge." The Master said, "There is one person who does not go via Flying Ape Ridge; do you know him?" Xuefeng said, "I do not know him." The Master said, "Why do you not know him?" Xuefeng said, "He has no face or eyes." The Master said, "Since you do not know him, how do you know he has no face or eyes?" Xuefeng had no answer. (Langye Jiao said, "Those with coarse minds lose it.")
