僧問：「沙門豈不是具大慈悲底人？」師曰：「是。」僧云：「忽遇六賊來時如何？」師曰：「亦須具大慈悲。」僧云：「如何具大慈悲？」師曰：「一劍揮盡。」僧云：「盡後如何？」師曰：「始得和同。」

A monk asked, "Is not a śramaṇa a person endowed with great compassion?" The Master said, "He is." The monk said, "What happens when the six thieves suddenly arrive?" The Master said, "He must also be endowed with great compassion." The monk said, "How is he endowed with great compassion?" The Master said, "With a single sword, he sweeps them completely away." The monk said, "What happens after they are swept away?" The Master said, "Only then is harmony attained."
