僧問：「學人通身是病，請師醫。」師曰：「不醫。」僧云：「為甚麼不醫？」師曰：「教汝求生不得，求死不得。」

A monk asked, "The student's whole body is sickness; please heal me, Master." The Master said, "I will not heal you." The monk said, "Why not heal me?" The Master said, "To cause you to seek life and not be able to get it, and to seek death and not be able to get it."
