舉：「座主就華嚴講，請翠巖齋，巖云：『山僧有箇問，座主若道得即齋。』巖便拈起餬餅云：『嚴具法身麼？』主云：『具法身。』巖云：『與麼則喫法身也。』主無語。本講座主代云：『有什麼過？』巖不肯，東使云：『喏喏。』」師代云：「特謝和尚降重空筵。」

[Yunmen] brought up [the following]: "A lecture master lecturing on the Avataṃsaka invited Cuiyan to a meal. Cuiyan said, 'This mountain monk has a question; if the lecture master can answer it, then I will take the meal.' Cuiyan then picked up a sesame cake and said, 'Does Yan possess the dharmakāya?' The lecture master said, 'You possess the dharmakāya.' Cuiyan said, 'If so, then I am eating the dharmakāya.' The lecture master had no words. A lecture master from the same seat said on his behalf, 'What fault is there?' Cuiyan did not accept this. An envoy from the east said, 'Yes, yes.'" The Master said on [the lecture master's] behalf, "Special thanks to the upādhyāya for gracing this empty feast with your presence."
