師問僧：「講律來是麼？」僧云：「是。」師云：「律鈔中說，大小乘無分別，作麼生是無分別？」無對。代云：「靈樹置將一句來。」

The Master asked a monk, "Have you come from lecturing on the Vinaya, is that so?" The monk said, "It is." The Master said, "It says in the Vinaya Commentary that there is no distinction between the Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna. What is this absence of distinction?" There was no answer. Answering on their behalf, he said, "Let Lingshu put forth a phrase."
