師問僧：「法身還喫飯麼？」僧云：「諸方老宿不肯，法身無形無相，作麼生喫？」師云：「與麼道夢見法身麼？」僧云：「有不肯處作麼生？」師云：「自不知。」乃云：「法身喫飯。」又代云：「將謂有衲僧孔竅，猶是潑屎潑尿。」復云：「酌然百千人中未有一人到此境界。」自云：「和尚作麼生？」代云：「咄！這有頭無尾漢。」

The Master asked a monk, "Does the dharmakāya still eat rice?" The monk said, "The venerable elders everywhere do not grant it; the dharmakāya has neither form nor mark, so how could it eat?" The Master said, "Speaking like that, have you even dreamed of the dharmakāya?" The monk said, "What about the place they do not grant?" The Master said, "They do not know themselves." He then said, "The dharmakāya eats rice." He also said on their behalf, "I had thought he possessed the apertures of a patch-robed monk, yet he is still splashing shit and pouring piss." He also said, "Certainly among hundreds of thousands of people there is not yet one who has reached this realm." He said to himself, "What about the Upādhyāya?" Answering on their behalf, he said, "Bah! This fellow with a head but no tail."
