3.125

問僧：「作麼生是打靜一句？」僧云：「誰敢出頭？」師云：「儞問我。」僧便問，師以拄杖劃地一下，問僧：「將什麼轉大藏教？」僧云：「莫越於此。」師云：「拈却菩提換却涅槃又作麼生？」僧云：「今日七，明日八。」師云：「依稀似佛，莽鹵如僧。」

He asked a monk, "What is the phrase for striking the silence?" The monk said, "Who dares poke his head out?" The Master said, "You ask me." The monk then asked. The Master made a stroke on the ground with his staff, and asked the monk, "What will you use to turn the great canon of teachings?" The monk said, "It does not go beyond this." The Master said, "Taking away bodhi and replacing nirvāṇa—what about that?" The monk said, "Today seven, tomorrow eight." The Master said, "Vaguely resembling a Buddha, clumsily like a monk."
