因在醋寮內，指云：「這一甕醋得與麼滿，那一甕醋得與麼淺。」僧云：「人貧智短，馬瘦毛長。」師大笑而出。

Once while in the vinegar storehouse, pointing, he said, "How is this vat of vinegar so full, while that vat of vinegar is so shallow?" A monk said, "When a man is poor his wisdom is short; when a horse is lean its hair is long." The Master laughed loudly and went out.
