師行脚時見一座主，舉在天台國清寺齋時，雪峯拈鉢盂問某：「道得即與儞鉢盂。」某云：「此是化佛邊事。」峯云：「儞作座主奴也未得。」某云：「不會。」峯云：「儞問我，與儞道。」某始禮拜，峯便蹋倒，某得七年方見。師云：「是儞得七年方見。」主云：「是。」師云：「更與七年始得。」

When the Master was on pilgrimage, he saw a lecture master who brought up [an event]: "At a meal at Guoqing Monastery on Mount Tiantai, Xuefeng picked up an alms-bowl and asked me, 'If you can speak, I will give you the alms-bowl.' I said, 'This is a matter on the side of the transformation Buddha.' Xuefeng said, 'You are not even qualified to be a slave to a lecture master.' I said, 'I do not understand.' Xuefeng said, 'You ask me, and I will tell you.' As soon as I bowed, Xuefeng kicked me over. It took me seven years before I saw it." The Master said, "It is you who took seven years before you saw it." The master said, "Yes." The Master said, "You will need another seven years to get it."
