3.18

僧辭師，師云：「莫教敗闕。」僧云：「和尚有什麼事但問。」師云：「草賊大敗。」無對。代云：「敗也。」代前語云：「不少。」

A monk took leave of the Master. The Master said, "Do not cause any blunder." The monk said, "Whatever the upādhyāya has to ask, just ask." The Master said, "The grass-bandits were utterly defeated." There was no reply. Answering on his behalf, he said, "Defeated indeed." Answering on his behalf for the previous remark, he said, "Not a little."
