3.33

問僧：「甚處來？」僧云：「般柴來。」師云：「維那打鼓不般柴，作麼生？」無對。代云：「錯領。」又云：「可惜般柴工夫。」又云：「和尚位處當人，某甲參學。」又云：「纔施少許功勞。」

He asked a monk, "Where have you come from?" The monk said, "I have come from carrying firewood." The Master said, "If the karmadāna strikes the drum and does not carry firewood, how is it?" There was no reply. Answering on his behalf, he said, "Mistakenly understood." He also said, "A pity for the effort spent carrying firewood." He also said, "The upādhyāya's position suits the person; I am studying and practicing." He also said, "Only just applied a little bit of labor."
