3.55

師齋次，問僧：「半夜般柴即不問，爾齋時將什麼喫飯？」僧拈起鉢盂，師以拄杖打落，僧無語。代云：「引。」又云：「兩片皮。」又云：「匙箸鉢盂手巾單子。」

During the midday meal, the Master asked a monk, "Without asking about hauling firewood in the middle of the night, what do you use to eat rice at the meal?"
The monk held up his alms bowl.
The Master knocked it down with his staff.
The monk had no words.
Answering on their behalf, [the Master] said, "Lead on."
He also said, "Two flaps of skin."
He also said, "Spoon, chopsticks, alms bowl, towel, and mat."
