3.56

因喫茶次，問僧：「爾是柴頭不？」僧云：「是。」師云：「更勸一甌茶。」代云：「辛苦受盡。」又云：「功不浪施。」又云：「和尚念某甲辛苦。」

While drinking tea, he asked a monk, "Are you the firewood manager?"
The monk said, "I am."
The Master said, "I urge you to have another bowl of tea."
Answering on their behalf, [the Master] said, "I have endured all hardships."
He also said, "Effort is not expended in vain."
He also said, "The Upādhyāya is mindful of my hardship."
