3.59

師問僧：「爾是甚處出家？」僧云：「趙州孫。」師云：「師翁是甚處人？」代云：「喫飯老和尚。」

The Master asked a monk, "Where were you ordained?"
The monk said, "I am Zhaozhou's grandson [disciple]."
The Master said, "Where is your grand-master from?"
Answering on their behalf, [the Master] said, "The rice-eating old Upādhyāya."
