3.81

問僧：「甚處來？」僧云：「郴州。」師云：「夏在什麼處？」僧云：「西禪。」師云：「說什麼法？」僧展兩手垂兩邊，師便打，僧云：「某甲話在。」師却展兩手，無對，師打趁出。代云：「便出去。」

[The Master] asked a monk, "Where have you come from?"
The monk said, "Chenzhou."
The Master said, "Where did you spend the summer retreat?"
The monk said, "At Xichan."
The Master said, "What Dharma did they preach?"
The monk stretched out both hands, letting them hang down at his sides. The Master struck him at once.
The monk said, "I still have words to say!"
The Master then stretched out both hands. There was no reply. The Master beat him and drove him out.
Answering on their behalf, he said, "Just go out."
