3.86

有僧來參，師問：「曾聽講來麼？」僧云：「是。」師云：「見說有《唯識論》是不？」僧云：「是。」師云：「非非想天說箇什麼？」僧云：「不會。」師云：「且念文書。」代云：「禪師愛欺座主。」又云：「吽㗶。」又云：「維摩頭，法華尾。」

A monk came to visit. The Master asked, "Have you ever listened to lectures?"
The monk said, "Yes."
The Master said, "I have heard it said that there is the *Vijñaptimātrasiddhi-śāstra*; is that so?"
The monk said, "Yes."
The Master said, "What is preached in the Heaven of Neither Perception nor Non-Perception?"
The monk said, "I do not understand."
The Master said, "Just recite the texts."
Answering on their behalf, he said, "The Chan master loves to bully the lecturer."
He also said, "Hūṃ phat!"
He also said, "Vimalakīrti's head, the Lotus's tail."
