3.95

鼓山有小師，久在崇壽，却歸嶺中到保福處相看。福知來，却入帳子內，衲衣蓋頭坐。僧云：「和尚出汗那？」不對。有僧舉似師，師云：「見成公案，不能折合。」代云：「鈍置殺人。」又云：「草賊大敗。」

There was a junior disciple at Gushan who had long resided at Chongshou. When he returned to Lingzhong, he went to Baofu to pay his respects. Baofu knew he was coming, so he went inside his curtained bed and sat covering his head with his patch-robe. The monk said, "Are you sweating, Upādhyāya?" There was no answer.
A monk cited this to the Master. The Master said, "A ready-made case, yet he could not settle it."
Answering on their behalf, he said, "It puts people to shame!"
He also said, "The grass bandits have suffered a great defeat!"
