問新到：「甚處過夏？」云：「雲蓋。」師云：「多少人？」僧云：「七十人。」師云：「爾為什麼不在數？」代云：「新到分上未受與麼？」又云：「恐久住瞋。」

[The Master] asked a newcomer, "Where did you spend the summer retreat?"
[The monk] said, "At Yungai."
The Master said, "How many people?"
The monk said, "Seventy people."
The Master said, "Why were you not included in the count?"
Answering on their behalf, he said, "From the newcomer's standpoint, has he not yet received such [treatment]?"
He also said, "Fearing that long-term residents would get angry."
