問僧：「名甚麼？」云：「靈通。」師云：「便請入燈籠。」云：「早箇入了也。」（法眼別云：「喚甚麼作燈籠？」）

The Master asked a monk, "What is your name?" The monk said, "Lingtong [Spiritual Efficacy]." The Master said, "Then please enter the lantern." The monk said, "I have already entered it long ago." (Fayan gave the alternative: "What do you call a lantern?")
