洪州太守宋令公，一日大寧寺僧，陳乞請第二座開堂，公云：「何不請第一座？」眾無語。師代云：「不勞如此。」

Duke Song, the governor of Hongzhou: one day the monks of Daning Temple presented a petition asking that the second-seated monk open the hall. The Duke said, "Why not invite the head monk?" The assembly had no words. The Master spoke in substitution: "There is no need for such trouble."
