1.57

因開井，被沙塞却泉眼，師云：「泉眼不通被沙礙，道眼不通，被甚麼礙？」僧無對，師自代云：「被眼礙。」

When digging a well, the spring's eye was blocked by sand. The master said, "When the spring's eye is not unblocked, it is obstructed by sand. When the eye of the Way is not unblocked, by what is it obstructed?" The monk had no reply. The master spoke on his behalf, saying, "It is obstructed by the eye."
