1.80

舉昔有二菴主住菴，旬日不相見，忽相會，上菴主問下菴主：「多時不相見，向甚麼處去？」下菴主云：「在菴中造箇無縫塔。」上菴主云：「某甲也要造一箇，就兄借取塔樣子。」下菴主云：「何不早說，却被人借去了也。」師云：「且道，是借他樣。不借他樣？」

He cited: In the past, two hermitage masters lived in their hermitages. For ten days they had not seen each other. Suddenly they met, and the master of the upper hermitage asked the master of the lower hermitage, "We have not seen each other for a long time; where did you go?" The master of the lower hermitage said, "In the hermitage I was building a seamless stūpa." The master of the upper hermitage said, "I also wish to build one; may I borrow the model of the stūpa from you, elder brother?" The master of the lower hermitage said, "Why didn't you speak earlier? Someone has already borrowed it away." The Master said, "Tell me: did he borrow his model, or did he not borrow his model?"
