舉：「鄧隱峯在襄州破威儀堂，只著襯衣，於砧椎邊，拈椎云：『道得即不打。』于時大眾默然，隱峯便打一下。」師云：「鄧隱峯，奇怪甚奇怪，要且打不著。」又云：「其時一眾出自偶然。」

[The Master] cited: "When Deng Yinfeng was in Xiangzhou, he disrupted the Hall of Demeanour; wearing only his undergarment, by the block and hammer, he picked up the hammer and said, 'If you can speak, I will not strike.' At that time, the great assembly was silent; Yinfeng then struck a blow." The Master said, "Deng Yinfeng was strange, very strange, yet in the end he did not land a hit." He also said, "At that time, the assembly's [reaction] arose merely by chance."
