「國師問座主：『講什麼經？』云：『金剛經。』『最初兩字，是什麼字？』云：『如是。』又問：『是什麼字？』」代云：「早是葛藤。」

"The National Teacher asked a lecturer, 'What sūtra do you lecture on?' He said, 'The Diamond Sūtra.' 'What are the first two characters?' He said, ''Thus' (如是).' He asked again, 'What character is it?'" Replacing [the original words], he said, "Already it is an entangling vine."
