「江南劉王訪菴主，報云：『鑾駕來也。』菴主云：『佛來也不起。』云：『佛豈不是師？』主云：『是。』『為什麼不起？』」代云：「足知。」

"King Liu of Jiangnan visited a hermit. An attendant announced, 'The imperial carriage has arrived.' The hermit said, 'Even if the Buddha came, I would not rise.' [The attendant] said, 'Is the Buddha not a teacher?' The hermit said, 'He is.' 'Why do you not rise?'" Replacing [the original words], he said, "Fully aware."
