「藥山問雲巖：『什麼處來？』云：『百丈來。』『百丈有什麼言句？』巖云：『和尚云：「我有一句子。百味具足。」』山云：『鹹是鹹味，淡是淡味，不鹹不淡是常味，作麼生百味具足？』」代云：「洎合不具足。」

"Yaoshan asked Yunyan: 'Where have you come from?' He said: 'I have come from Baizhang.' 'What sayings does Baizhang have?' Yunyan said: 'The Master said: "I have a phrase fully endowed with the hundred flavors."' Yaoshan said: 'Salty is the salty flavor, bland is the bland flavor, neither salty nor bland is the ordinary flavor; how can it be fully endowed with the hundred flavors?'" Replacing [Yunyan's words], he said: "It almost lacked full endowment."
