「襄州洞山勘僧：『近離什麼處？』云：『鹿門。』山云：『鹿王不跨㵎，諸子復何來？』云：『還許學人親近也無？』『爾擬作麼生親近？』僧珍重而去。」代云：「也是第二搥。」

"Dongshan of Xiangzhou tested a monk: 'Where did you leave recently?' He said: 'Lumen.' Dongshan said: 'The deer king does not cross the ravine; whence do all the children come?' He said: 'Do you still permit this student to approach?' 'How do you intend to approach?' The monk said, 'Take care,' and left." Replacing [the words], he said: "This too is the second stroke."
