「王常侍註《信心銘》，呈香嚴，嚴接得便棄地上，常侍失色，師云：『「纔有是非，紛然失心」，作麼生註？』」代云：「和尚註得好。」

"Attendant Censor Wang annotated the *Xinxin ming* and presented it to Xiangyan. Xiangyan took it and immediately threw it to the ground. The Attendant Censor lost his color. The Master said: '"As soon as there is affirmation and negation, confusion causes the mind to be lost"; how can it be annotated?'" Replacing [the censor's words], he said: "The Venerable has annotated it well."
