有僧纔出禮拜，師云：「未得問話。」其僧乃退，師云：「將謂是打陣將軍，元來是行間小卒。不見爾過，好好問來。」

A monk had just stepped forward and bowed when the Master said: "You must not ask a question." The monk then stepped back. The Master said: "I took you for a battle-hardened general, but you turn out to be a minor foot soldier in the ranks. I do not see your fault; come and ask properly."
