上堂：「撞鐘鐘鳴，擊鼓鼓響，大眾殷勤問訊，同安端然合掌。這箇是世法，那箇是佛法？咄！」

Ascending the hall, he said: “Striking the bell, the bell tolls; beating the drum, the drum sounds. The great assembly reverently inquires, and Tong'an uprightly joins his palms. This is worldly dharma; which one is the Buddha Dharma? Bah!”
