因雪下上堂，云：「雪雪片片不別，亂飄亂灑，應時應節，懵憧禪和猶未知，守株待兔與誰說？」下座。

Ascending the hall because snow was falling, he said: "Snow, snow, flake after flake without distinction, / Drifting wildly, scattering wildly, responding to the season and the festival. / The muddled Chan monks still do not know— / Waiting by the stump for a hare, to whom can it be told?" He descended from the seat.
