上堂，云：「無邊剎境，自他不隔於毫端；十世古今，始終不離於當念。」遂拍禪床一下云：「釋迦老子年多少？還知麼？若也知得，人間天上，出入自由；若也不知，雲蓋自道，恒薩訶竭二千年。」

Ascending the hall, he said: “Boundless realms of lands: self and other are not separated by the tip of a hair. The ten periods of past and present: from beginning to end, they never depart from the present thought.” He then struck the meditation bed once and said: “Old man Śākya—how old is he? Do you know? If you know, you are free to enter and leave heaven and the human realm at will; if you do not know, Yungai himself says: two thousand years across the Ganges.”
