師，次日參云：「昨日數人新到，打雲蓋三下坐具，恰似有箇悟處。」遂舉前話了，乃云：「雲蓋敗闕處，諸人總知；新到得勝處，諸人還知麼？若也知得，出來與雲蓋出氣；若也不知，明眼人前，不得錯舉。」

The next day at interview, the Master said: “Yesterday, several newly arrived people struck Yungai three times with a sitting cloth, just as if they had some realization.” He then cited the previous exchange and said: “The place where Yungai suffered defeat, you all know. But the place where the new arrival gained victory, do you all know? If you know, come forth and vent Yungai’s frustration! If you do not know, in the presence of someone with clear eyes, you must not quote it erroneously.”
