上堂云：「立雪斷臂指喻後人，人能弘道非道弘人，這箇是什麼語？江城子。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "Standing in the snow and severing an arm served as an instructive example for later people; human beings can enlarge the Way, it is not that the Way enlarges human beings. What kind of words are these? 'River Town Child.'"
