鄧隱峯在襄州破威儀堂，只著襯衣於砧槌邊舉槌云：「道得即不打。」于時大眾默然，隱峯便打一下。師拈云：「果然果然。」

Deng Yinfeng was in Xiangzhou at the Hall of Broken Comportment; wearing only his undergarments beside the anvil and mallet, he raised the mallet and said: 'If you can speak, I will not strike.' At that time the great assembly was silent; Yinfeng then struck once. The Master commented: "As expected, as expected."
