上堂云：「一塵一佛國，一葉一釋迦，德山何以卓牌於鬧市？」又云：「入林不動草，入水不動波，投子因甚麼脚下五色索透關底？試辯看。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "One dust mote, one Buddha realm; one leaf, one Śākyamuni. Why did Deshan set up a placard in the bustling market?" He also said: "Entering the forest without moving the grass; entering the water without stirring waves. Why did Touzi pass through the barrier with five-coloured cords at his feet? Try to discern it!"
