舉：「雲門大師云：『三乘十二分教，達磨西來，放過即不可；若不放過，不消一喝。』」師隨舉了便喝，復云：「大眾，好喝落在甚處？若要鼻孔遼天，辯取者一喝。」便下座。

He cited: "Great Master Yunmen said, 'The three vehicles and twelve divisions of teachings, Bodhidharma coming from the west—if you let them pass, that will not do; if you do not let them pass, they do not even require a single shout.'" As soon as the Master cited this, he gave a shout, and then said, "Assembly! Where does a fine shout land? If you want your nostrils to reach to heaven, distinguish this shout!" Then he stepped down from his seat.
