師因事示眾云：「杜耳目於胎殼、掩玄象於霄外，而責宮商之異、辯玄素之殊底，是甚麼人？還知落處麼？那一箇，者一箇，兼本三人，放過一著。」便下座。

The Master, on account of an event, instructed the assembly, saying, "Stopping up ears and eyes within an embryonic shell, obscuring the profound signs beyond the heavens, yet demanding differences between gong and shang notes and discerning distinctions between black and white—what kind of person is this? Do you still know where this falls? That one, this one, together with the original make three persons; I let the move pass." Then he stepped down from his seat.
