上堂云：「長觜鳥芳樹不棲，喃喃獨語摩斯吒，滄溟不入戰戰却，迴三十年後悟去。」提起手云：「吽吽。」便下座。

Ascending the hall, he said, "The long-beaked bird does not roost on fragrant trees; murmuring to itself, 'Mosi zha.' Not entering the vast ocean, it trembles and turns back; after thirty years it attains awakening." Raising his hand, he said, "Hum, hum!" Then he stepped down from his seat.
